Im Zusammenhang mit dem Schreiben eines Drehbuchs hat das Wort „treatment“ auch eine zweite Bedeutung: das so genannte „screenplay“ unterscheidet drei Arbeitsphasen: „expose“ als kurze Skizzierung der Haupthandlung, „treatment“ als genauere Ausführung der Handlungszüge und „szenarium“ als genaueste Anweisung für einzelne Szenen.
